Are you experiencing dental pain?

PLEASE NOTE if the swelling is severe and begins to travel into your neck region, restricting your breathing, or you are experiencing excessive bleeding, then PLEASE go to A&E. |
What is a Dental Emergency Appointment?
We start by diagnosing and treating any tooth ache first as a priority. We have emergency time available each day for this purpose. Our emergency time is before lunch, usually between 11.00am & 12.30pm - as appointment length is difficult to predict and this tends to reduce disruption for our other patients. If we have other slots available we will offer these to you as well, this usually occurs when somebody cancels an appointment on the day or we have an extra time slot available later or earlier than the allocated emergency time. |
We only very rarely prescribe antibiotics, we aim to treat the problem by replacing the filling, extracting the tooth or starting root canal treatment, basically - whatever it is we can do to help. The vast majority of sore teeth can be made numb with local anaesthetic, and if the underlying cause is dealt with, your problems will resolve much more rapidly that a course of antibiotics. |
Our reception staff will ask you some basic questions over the phone to help book an appropriate appointment for you, these questions may include things such as: where within the mouth the pain is located? when did the pain start? is there any swelling? This will help our reception team inform the nurse a brief idea of what she needs to prepare for your appointment. |
Cost of Emergency Treatment
As a general rule if you have severe toothache, and needed a tooth out for example, you will need a 30 minute appointment costing £200.00. We always tend to book a 30 minute appointment to identify the issue and attempt to resolve it in this time, if however the treatment takes longer, for example - your tooth is heavily broken down or you would prefer to save the tooth and we need to start root canal treatment or restorative work, we will charge for the extra time. Likewise, if the treatment |

Out of Hours Service:
We also provide access to advice or if needed - treatment out of our working hours for our routine or private patients. For details please call: |
Our answer phone message will provide information on both NHS out of hours service, and our own arrangements for private and Denplan patients. There is no charge for the phone advice we provide you with, and call out fees are included within our Denplan Excel Care scheme (apart from the first £15). |
If you are not a Denplan patient the call out fee will be £600.00 (if the procedure takes longer than 15 minutes). The range of treatment we are able to provide out of hours is restricted, and high complexity procedures such as surgical extractions or sedation will not be undertaken without our full team being available. The dentist on call will be able to provide more detailed advice when you speak to them. They will provide you with various options. |
