Examination Options, Services & Costs:
Below you will find the different types of dental examinations & assessments we offer to cater to different patients. These differ in price depending on dentist and chair side time, and we will recommend them depending on the patients circumstances which could include the last time you visited a dentist for an examination. You will find all the things we offer at each different appointment, this may help you distinguish the type of examination you need when you attend. |
New Patient Consultation / Examination Appointment:

What the Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment & Consultation Includes: |
45 Minutes of chair side time. |
Review of relevant medical history, dental history and oral hygiene practices IE: what you do now at home (e.g. brushing - manual/electic toothbrushing or any interdental cleaning) and how we can improve on this. |
Examination of jaw, joints, facial muscles, salivary glands & facial lymph nodes. |
Comprehensive assessment of all teeth and restorations (fillings, crowns & dentures). |
Comprehensive assessment of gum health (full pocket & recession charting if needed). |
Assessment, measurment & prognosis of tooth wear (dietry, gastric & gridning) |
Full mouth soft tissue review & oral cancer screening. |
Includes routine oral x-rays & clinical photographs (if additional x-rays are needed, you may well be charged for this). |
Advice on dentalk prevention & oral hygiene measures. |
Explanation of findings, impartial professional advice & discussion of your options. |
Preparation of written treatment plan including background information to help you make your decision on your advised treatment. |
Time at the end of the appointment for you to ask any questions. |

What the Routine Dental Health Examination includes: |
15-20 minutes of chair side time. |
Review of changes to medical history. |
Examination of jaws, joints, facial muscles, salivary glands & facial lymph nodes if changed/symptomatic. |
Assessment of all teeth & restorations (fillings, crowns & dentures). |
Screening of gum health via Basic Periodonatal Examination (if detailed charting is completed this would suggest need for a further appointment). |
Monitoring of tooth wear (dietry, gastric, grinding). |
Full mouth soft tissue review & oral cancer screening. |
Explanation of findings, impartial professional advice & discussing of your options. |
Preparation of written treatment plan. |
Time for you to ask any questions at the end of the appointment. |

Routine Examination X-Rays:
Cost of Routine X-Ray: |
£20.00. (Per X-Ray). |
X ray costs are not included in your routine dental appointment but will be included in comprehensive & extensive examinations. If required, you will be charged for them separately. Routine views screening views of back teeth are recommended on a risk assessed basis which for most patients is every 2 years. |
Waiting Lists:
We are now holding a waiting list of patients who would like to join the practice in the future. If you would like to be placed on our waiting list, dont hesitate to contact the practice on 01229 772319. |

Waiting lists are held for private care only, we are unfortunately unable to offer NHS care. |
If you are wanting to join Denplan, you will first need to join as a private patient for a full examination. Please see the Denplan Information page for more information. |
If you are on our waiting list for routine care with us, please expect to wait atleast 6-9 months for us to contact you, to offer an appointment. This time scale may however differ. |
If in the meantime you find an alternative dentist while on our waiting list, please inform us so we can remove you & so we dont uncessarily call to offer you an appointment. |
Our waiting list for private routine care can close at anytime if it becomes too full, however we will honour the people already placed on the waiting list. |
